Description
A George IV 18 inch George Smith terrestrial globe, set in a mahogany tripod stand with a turned baluster support and slender square-section legs with the original castors. Compass dish and rose replaced. Signed within an elaborate roundel surmounted by a royal crest Geo Smith, 172 Strand. English, c1825.
Terrestrial Globe containing all the latest discoveries and geographical improvements, also the tracks of the most celebrated Circum Navigators ….Dedicated by permission of his most Gracious Majesty George III, by John Smith. Made by John Smith Globe Maker to His Majesty and sold by C Smith 172 the Strand. -
