Angelo Mangiarotti 'Eros' Square Marble Dining Table - 1970s
-
Description
Angelo Mangiarotti, dining table, black marble, 1970s. Rare square version of the dining table produced by Skipper. This sculptural table by Angelo Mangiarotti is a skilful example of Postmodern design. The table is executed in black marble. The square table features no joints or clamps and is architectural in its structure. The table rests on the four cone shaped legs and the construction is gravity-based. The top 'locks' itself onto the marble cones that are placed on the corners and that are kept in place as a result of the weight of the material. As a consequence, the entire structure is stable and strong. Angelo Mangiarotti (1921-2012) was an Italian architect and Industrial designer with a reputation to mainly focus on the needs of the users of furniture. Literature:- Gramigna, Giuliana. Repertorio del Design Italiano, 1950-2000 per L'Arredamento Domestico. Allemandi: Torino, 2003, p.192. You see the table presented with Pompidou dining chairs by Charles Beaubourg.
