Description
Two Japanese Scroll painting depicts scenes from the Tale of Genji (Genji-E), from Edo period. These painting were purchased from Odewara Shoten in the Imperial Hotel of Tokyo in 1961. It comes with a copy of original document from the gallery that certifies the age to be of Bunkwa period (1804-1816). It also shows the date of purchase and a handwritten note on the subject matter and technique.
These scrolls were stored away in wood boxes by the estate until now. They are similar in size but with different brocade borders.
Individual scroll may be purchased at 2500 each. -
