Description
A Federal period pale mahogany Hepplewhite manner secretary bookcase with very fine rope and string inlays. Finish, glass, brasses and locks all original. In two parts: three shelf bookcase with diamond mullioned doors, atop a lower case containing a fall-front desk with leather inset and three additional lower drawers; raised on straight bracket feet. The concealed top of the lower case has the remains of an original script label with Baltimore address. When last sold at auction, the underbidder was a Maryland museum.
