Warren McArthur anodixzed aluminum light armchair manufactured by the Warren McArthur Corporation circa 1938.
The chair is very similar to the chrome plated Z chair designed by Gilbert Rohde and produced by Troy Sunshade, the Kem Weber designed chrome plated Z chair produced by Lloyd, Helene Curtis beauty shop chrome plated Z chair, Huron Chrome, and Royal Chrome's chrome plated Z chair to name some of the more prominent chrome plated steel designs that being produced at that time.
Ned Jordan, head of McArthur Advertising, described this chair in the 1938 Warren McArthur Corporation catalog "Custom Styled Beauty Salon Equipment:
"This type of chair is undoubtedly the most popular used by the profession, but it remained to Warren McArthur to design class and style into every line and curve. Unusual comfort and rigidity, quality of materials and faultless craftsmanship distinguish it from ordinary chairs.".
This was one of the first designs manufactured in Australia by Namco after procuring a license to produce McArthur's furniture and the right to create their own unique designs with his patents starting in 1947.
The Australians continued to manufacture McArthur style aluminum tubed furniture into the mid-1960s.
This chair is in good vintage condition.
