Description
Unusual folding floor Shoji screen beautifully crafted from elmwood in Japan in the 50's/60s.
The shoji paper has real Japanese maple leaves, butterflies, grass and clover set into the paper.
This paper is no longer available and has been out of production since the 1990s.
I have placed the original shoji paper between two sheets of Cloud Dragon translucent 2 mm. paper to protect the original paper..
The overlay grid frames are held together with wooden pins which slide into the channels cut into the outer frame. Each frame is fastened with a brass screw in each corner.
The brass hinges rotate 360 degrees.
Great piece in very good vintage condition. -
