    A piece wonderful antique textile fragment from China, circa 19th century Qing dynasty, artistically displayed in a giltwood frame with white linen mat in contrast with complementary pink border. Originally it was an embroidered panel of a semi-formal skirt worn by Manchurian noble ladies, Using satin stitches, the panel depicts a rising phoenix in colorful plumages and a red peony above wave motifs.
    Provenance: Purchased from Norton's Oriental Galleries in Newport, Rhode Island. Fully labeled with notes on the back as shown.
