Edo Period, Late 18th - Early 19th Century Hirado-ware porcelain sculpture. Hirado-ware refers to kilns under the Hirado daimyo family (feudal) rule during the Edo period in Japan. The Hirado territory was located in modern day Saga Prefecture in Kyushu Island in Southern Japan. Wonderfully expressive faces, and remarkably fine and subtle carved fur pattern.
