Saratoga sofa in elephant grey leather by Vignelli for Poltronova - 1964
-
Description
Massimo and Lella Vignelli for Poltronova, 'Saratoga' three-seat sofa, polyester lacquer and elephant grey leather, Italy, 1964
This three-seat sofa named 'Saratoga' is designed by Italian designer couple Lella & Massimo Vignelli. The Vignelli's were known for their clear designs, this piece is therefore also completely free from decorative details. All attention goes to the essential form and material in this design by Vignelli.
“We have designed this sofa because we really needed a sofa. And the sofa wanted was one with an architectural character rather that a soft, smooth object. A sofa that could be set out in the middle of the room. We didn’t want it to be pushed up against the walls; we wanted it to move around as needed.”
This is a limited edition series which includes a elephant leather print on the upholstery.
The pieces are in great condition. Minor wear on the lacquer.
We have two sofas available -
