Chinese Lingbi Scholar Stone on Display Stand

A large Chinese scholar stone on display wood stand. The stone is of Lingbi type and it features an elegant vertical mushroom cloud shape and a rugged surface. Its winged form rises from a small base and achieves a nearly gravity-defying balance, evoking the image of a precarious mountain in a Chinese landscape, like the peaks in Zhangjiajie. The surface features a highly wrinkled texture with furrows and folds and on the front, it showcases two cave like large folds, adding more drama to its exotic appearance. The stone has a beautiful ringing tone when knocked, a character of Lingbi stones.
The naturally weathered stone from Lingbi, Anhui Province were collected and priced by Chinese scholars since Tang dynasty. They were displayed in the scholar's study on complimentary custom wood stand serving as a focal point for meditation on nature and philosophy. The novelty of the shape and unusual cavities that were weathered naturally through ages were highly appreciated as an inspiration for containing nature in imagination.
