Description
The New York subway network has seen dark and dangerous times over the last few decades. Now we can ride the subway thoughtlessly, the trains are clean, the stations are brightly lit and safe, the tunnels home to subway rodents not desperate gangs. As we rattle around in these tin torpedoes it's possible to slip ones mind back in time to the lawless 1980's. Perhaps we can catch a glimpse of youths fighting or mugging hapless people as they try to go about their daily routine, but also there is a presence for good. Our Subway Watchdawg is there too, offering a light of hope and safety, deliverance from evil. Berlin was deeply affected by the sights and sounds he encountered in his daily life around NYC. He took comfort from the Guardian Angels who tried to protect their city and its inhabitants and offers this piece in tribute to all those anonymous watchdawgs.
