Description
Glazed ceramic sculpture of a helmsman by Spanish maker Lladró
Spanish, 20th Century
Height 55cm, width 38cm, depth 20cm
This fine ceramic sculpture depicts a helmsman in heroic posture. The man stands with one leg outstretched and one crooked at the knee, his faded blue trousers rendered with believable folds and creases. His arms grasp the wheel, which is set onto a beautifully decorated column. The figure is set on a base modelled as a wooden floor, which is raised atop a wooden plinth. The sculpture is by Lladró, a leading Spanish producer of porcelain and ceramic works of art.
