Description
English or American, ca. 1800-1820.
Carved gilt wood and gesso, cut glass cupholders and prisms, convex mirror plate.
Great condition, retains most of the original gilt, minor repairs commensurate with age.
Provenance: From a prominent Boston collection.
This rare and desirable diminutive girandole mirror exhibits both great form and proportions. Having a carved spread-wing eagle flanked by serpents above a convex mirror surrounded by balls with candle arms fitted with glass bobeches and prisms. -
