Description
The neon signs of Fremont Street's casinos are more than just documented by photographer Mitchell Funk. They are carefully composed as if it were a studio still life with each element in perfect balance. Old Las Vegas is long gone but vivid memories of it can still be continuously relived. For 53 years Mitchell Funk has brought the meticulous precision of studio photography to street photography. This is one of the most outstanding examples of his signature style.
Signed dated and numbered 3/15 lower right recto, other sizes available, unframed. This work is printed on fine art Hahnemuhle paper. printed later, The color will vary from monitor to monitor.
Mitchell Funk is a pioneer of " Color Photography" In 1970 he participated in one the first " Color Photography" shows at a major museum. Brooklyn Museum, show "Images en Couleur" . 1971 Included he was included in the visionary book "Frontiers of Photography" Time-Life. Color ! American Photography Transformed. Amon Carter Museum. He has had more than 50 Photography Magazine Covers and has had covers on Newsweek, Fortune, New York Magazine and Life Magazine among others. -

As an undergrad in painting, he studied with great teachers such as first-generation abstract expressionist Robert Richenburg and hyper-realist painter Janet Fish. In Graduate School he worked with famed critic E.C. Goossen and went on to work as a Photographer, New York Advertising Art Director, and Art Collector.
