French, c.1825
Height 48cm, width 44cm, depth 34cm
Dating from the Restauration period, these beautiful wall-lights combine a variety of stylistic influences to make a an exceptional pair of interior pieces. Each object features a winged putto descending from above, holding out a scrolling branch with two lights in each hand. The branches feature elaborate and profuse gilded decoration in acanthus leaves and floral motifs. The dark tone of the patinated bronze creates a pleasing contrast with the sumptuous gilding on the lights, the graceful movement of the putti matches and highlights the object's function purpose. They make an elegant and enviable pair indeed. -
