When the pilchard luggers gather together for a regatta the sea forms a backdrop for the rust red sails of these 19th century fishing boats.
With a gentle breeze the luggers hurtle along at quite a pace.
Penny foreshortens the boat so that it appears to surge from the canvas and into the room.
