Carswell Rush Berlin, Inc. is a New York City-based private dealer of American antique furniture and decorative accessories of the Classical period 1800-1840, that has been serving private clients, museums and the design trade for over 30 years. The firm offers outstanding, authentic examples of furniture, period lighting and fireplace equipment inspired by classical antiquity, in excellent condition, every item backed by extensive research and an unconditional guarantee to be as described. Mr. Berlin is widely regarded as a top expert in this field and has lectured at art museums all over the United States including the Williamsburg and Winterthur Furniture Forums. His studies advancing scholarship in the field have been published by The Magazine Antiques and the peer-reviewed annual, American Furniture, the field's most respected scholarly journal. Mr. Berlin and his furniture have been featured in such publications as Architectural Digest, House & Garden, Veranda, the Robb Report and a segment aired on CNBC. To date, the firm has placed objects in twenty art and historic house museums including the Metropolitan Museum of Art and The White House. Mr. Berlin is a member of the exclusive National Antique and Art Dealers Association of America, Inc. (NAADAA), and the Antique Dealers Association of America (ADA) and is a USPAP-compliant appraiser with a certificate from the Appraisers Association of America.
His article “An Important Rosewood and Cast-Iron Guéridon Attributed to Duncan Phyfe” was published in The Magazine ANTIQUES, May 2000 issue (Vol. CLVII, NO. 5) pages 770-777. His article “Solid and Permanent Grandeur: The Design Roots of American Classical Furniture” was published in the catalogue for the 2002 International Fine Art and Antique Dealer Show in New York (see:http://www.haughton.com/system/files/articles/2010/01/26/66/ifaads_2002.pdf) . His article “Classical Furniture in Federal Philadelphia” was published in Antiques & Fine Arts in the Spring 2007 issue

Mr. Berlin serves on the Board of Trustees of the Bartow-Pell Mansion Museum, a graduate of Kenyon College, he founded Carswell Rush Berlin, Inc. in 1992 to serve museums and collectors.
