Description
Jacob Moses Semiatin was born in 1915 in Dublin, Ireland to Polish-Jewish parents, cantor Herman Semiatzky and Sarah Moldovnik.
He emigrated with family in 1920 and settled in Brooklyn, NY.
First, as Abstract Expressionist, Semiatin exhibited at Contemporary Arts Gallery, in 1957, which also introduced Mark Rothko and Mark Tobey. His work is in the collections of the Houston MoMA and the Irish Jewish Museum, among others, and in private collections such as the Ted Turner collection.
