Description
Danish Mid-Century Modern furniture reflected Scandinavian materials and craftsmanship and mixed them with a modern style, and the period from roughly 1940 through 1960 was a high point for Danish furniture makers. This set shows why.
This beautiful armchair is a great representation of the quality and craftsmanship of Danish master cabinetmakers and the immediately recognizable characteristics of Scandinavian design. The welcoming, rounded shape of the voluminous arm- and backrest is a signature characteristic of Danish Modernism. Without any tufting or festooning, the focus is on the round, flowing lines of the body and its upholstery. The spherical, so-called bun feet on both the chair’s front legs and ottomans are a pleasant touch. The stained beech wood’s warm brown colour nicely contrasts to the soft, light colour of the bodies, creating a cosy look, not to mention that wooden bun feet make a long-lasting, rock solid foundation for any chair. The chair’s back legs differ, they are tapered and slightly bent to provide comfort. We have added newly produced upholstered ottomans to provide additional comfort and visual interest.
The carved wood legs and round edges stand out even under the fabric. The voluptuous shape is a result of the upholstered, winged backrest that embraces the sitter, complimented by the soft seat and armrests. From the frame to the upholstery, this armchair and ottomans guarantee quality and longevity with an outstanding design.
