A Louis XV period ormolu and marble mounted commode

Height 84cm, width 122cm, depth 68cm
With a veined grey marble top set above two small and two long drawers, and with a partial stamp and the letters 'JME,' this fine piece is a rare Louis XV period commode. Exemplifying the style of the time, with large curving forms, and bombe sides, this commode features gilt elements to the front of each draw, with further gilt foliate motifs in the centre and top and bottom of the front corners. An important surviving example of the time, this piece is full of antique style, grandeur, and presence. -
