Description
Pierre Cardin 'barbell' pivoting chrome table lamp (ca. 1960s, France). Similar to a version by John Mascheroni for Kovacs lamp with slight design and material disparities.
The on/off operation is controlled internally by a mercury switch, which allows one to illuminate the lamp by tilting it downward. When the lamp is in the upright position, it is off.
It rests upon an acrylic base and is an extraordinary example of innovative form and function.
Very good, vintage condition with minor, light scuffs to the chrome and acrylic, as shown.

Angled (on): H: 18" x L: 14.75" x D: 5"
Base: Height: 1.75" x Diameter: 4"
