Brutalist Sculpted Aluminum Center Table, by Laura Johnson Drake

$ 9,500
  • Description
    A Brutalist sculpted aluminum center table by Laura Johnson Drake. The dramatic base is cast in aluminum and hand-chased throughout with radiating abstract geometry, each of the four joined panels deeply gouged and pierced by a circular void with a hand-worked, scalloped edge — the metal darkened to a rich patina. It supports a square top of black lacquered carved wood, the recessed central panel within a chip-carved border of repeating oval punches. The interplay of chased metal below and carved wood above, unified by a single dark palette, gives the piece a powerful sculptural presence and an unusually tactile surface throughout. Well suited as a center table, entry table, or games table.
