Kai Kristiansen Teak Coffee Table for Aksel Kjersgaard, Denmark - 1950s. Kai Kristiansen (b. 1929) is best known for his work in designing chairs, tables, and storage solutions. His designs often feature clean lines, organic shapes, and functional details. Aksel Kjersgaard (1922-1995) was a cabinetmaker and designer who founded his own furniture company, Aksel Kjersgaard Møbelfabrik, in the 1950s. His designs were often characterized by their simplicity and functionality, and he worked primarily with natural materials such as teak and oak.
Both Kristiansen and Kjersgaard were part of the mid-century modern movement in Denmark, which emphasized clean lines, organic shapes, and the use of natural materials. Their designs continue to be popular today and are recognized for their timeless appeal and high quality craftsmanship. -
