Description
Above all, Mitchell Funk is a "Color Photographer. He see color as subject. A pile of empty and discarded colorful paint cans inadvertently becomes an artful abstract still life in itself. Documented through the keen lens of street photographer Mithcell Funk, the paint cans are elevated to a stunningly abstract photograph whose intense colors express punchy vitality and postive energy.
Signed dated and numbered 3/15 lower right recto, other sizes available, printed later, unframed. Printed on Hahnemühle Fine Art paper
Mitchell Funk is a pioneer of " Color Photography" In 1970 he participated in one the first " Color Photography" shows at a major museum. Brooklyn Museum, show "Images en Couleur" . 1971 Included he was included in the visionary book "Frontiers of Photography" Time Life. Color ! American Photography Transformed. Amon Carter Museum. He has had more than 50 Photography Magazine Covers and has had covers on Newsweek, Fortune, New York Magazine and Life Magazine among others. -

As an undergrad in painting, he studied with great teachers such as first-generation abstract expressionist Robert Richenburg and hyper-realist painter Janet Fish. In Graduate School he worked with famed critic E.C. Goossen and went on to work as a Photographer, New York Advertising Art Director, and Art Collector.
