Description
A very chic and very stylish appearance is what we first want to mention about this 1950s dining table by Italian designer Silvio Cavatorta. One of the greater Italian designers who rose to fame with his designs during the 1950s. Typical for his designs are the sharply stylized shapes that carry a special detail and are produced with a great deal of craftsmanship. Cavatorta's designs are often unique and of very high quality. Both in design and construction and this table is no exception. The tapered legs are beautifully proportioned and are connected by a dazzling connection in the middle. These crossbars have an H-shape that is rounded on all sides. There really isn't a sharp corner to be found. The beams collide in the middle and thus provide a robust base. Striking is the brass caps that are formed around the wood and allow the frame to evolve into a kind of jewel. On top of this elegant frame rests a shapely oval wooden top that is veneered on the sides with dark mahogany. A black-colored glass top lights up on the wooden top, which finishes this table in style. The table is in good condition with only minor traces of use. Scratches and small dents in the wood are part of this but do not detract from the appearance of the table.
