Japanese Six Panel Screen: Sudare in Garden with Breezes
-
Description
Sudare curtains blow in a gentle breeze over a garden with a flowering tree (possibly weeping cherry), peonies, azalea, young bamboo, and a garden stone. Very fine and subtle painting details on silk tassels an brocade on teh sudare, and the small birds. Truly excellent 17th century painting with a composition that is both stong and graceful. Seal and signature of Unkoku Totetsu, son of Unkoku Tomin. Unkoku School painting in mineral pigments and gold on mulberry paper with a silk brocade border.
