Description
Available today, this baroque colonial large square sunburst mirror made in hardwood and gold leaf in Peru during the twenties is gorgeous!
This baroque colonial gem is made in worked hardwood, plaster, terracotta bull and gold leaf sheets. While the style is inspired in Baroque colonial sunburst mirrors, the technique is Peruvian executed by Peruvian artisans in the 1920’s decade. This can be seen in the rich texture and unique gold detailing, resembling ethnic motifs from the Andes. The glass is original also.
The mirror is in its original condition and while it has some minor dents and small pieces of plaster missing (as detailed in the pictures), the piece looks spectacular and has a lot of character.
A gorgeous piece like this would look wonderful in any traditional, modern, rustic, or even French country modern or American farmhouse environment.
This rare piece belonged to a private residence in Cusco, the Peruvian region in the Andes with the finest artisans of the country.
