Description
Another rarity in our highly demanded Art Nouveau furniture collection: an absolute fantastic, unusual black display cabinet from the early period around 1905, designed by none other than the world famous Austrian architect Josef Hoffmann (1870 - 1956, founder of the "Wiener Werkstaette) for the company of Thonet. At first glance you can already see that this extraordinary Art Nouveau cabinet is not a "standard" cabinet, it bears the unmistakable handwriting of Josef Hoffmann. Artfully crafted by the renowed marketleader when it came to bentwood furniture - the company of Thonet - this incredible architectural masterpiece impresses with its outstanding design. Providing two drawers and a larger storage compartment with two doors underneath (all lockable with the original locks and adorned by the original brass fittings), the upper part offers amazing looking open compartments to present valuable collector pieces likes ceramics, bronzes, glass items or sculptures. The still original, small facet cutted mirror on the top center and the slim outside columns with spheres on top finalizes the incredible look of this super rare Josef Hoffmann cabinet/ buffet and makes it a perfect sized collectors piece of unusual Art Nouveau furniture. Definitely not only a gorgeous, eye-catching item but also a very clever investment for the future.
