William Barnet (1911–2012) was an American abstract expressionist painter, known for his lyrical and gestural abstractions. A prominent member of the New York School, he was part of a group of artists that included Jackson Pollock, Willem de Kooning, Philip Guston, Mark Rothko, and others. Barnet's work is characterized by its spontaneity and energy, often featuring bold and dynamic brush strokes. He was also a skilled printmaker, and his prints remain highly sought-after. Throughout his career, he exhibited extensively, and his work is held in many prominent museum collections around the world.
