Turn of the Century French Wooden Desk

Description
The unique design of this vintage wooden writing desk combines a distinguished character with charming eccentricity. Built in France at the turn of the century, the broad tabletop is set at a slight angle, encouraging a comfortable working position. On one side of the desktop we find a rail supported by an elegant pair of Neoclassical columns; on the other side, a roll-top compartment whose shape playfully mimics that of a roll-top desk in miniature. A pair of generous drawers, decorated with ornate cast iron cup handles, provide space for stationary and correspondence. The wood has attained an attractive patina over the years, lending a rich russet hue and a scuffed warmth to the studious silhouette.
