George W. Shiebler & Co. was a prominent American silversmithing firm active from 1876 to 1910, renowned for its innovative designs and exceptional craftsmanship. Founded by George W. Shiebler in New York, the company quickly gained recognition for its high-quality sterling silver flatware and hollowware. In 1892, the firm was incorporated as George W. Shiebler & Co., solidifying its status in the industry. Shiebler's designs often drew inspiration from classical antiquity, featuring intricate medallions and repoussé work. The company also produced a range of jewelry, novelties, and souvenir spoons, many of which were co-branded with Tiffany & Co. Notable patterns include "Medallion," "Chrysanthemum," and "Amaryllis," which remain highly collectible today. After the firm's dissolution in 1910, Shiebler continued his career in silversmithing, working for Gorham until his death in 1920. Today, Shiebler's pieces are celebrated for their artistic merit and historical significance, with examples held in esteemed collections such as the Brooklyn Museum.
