Sack-Back Windsor Armchair

Description
Probably Eastern Connecticut, ca. 1780-1805.
Mixed woods (hickory and ash), painted surface.
Over-all in great condition, retaining a 19th c. black painted surface over original green, minor shrinkage crack on bowed rail.
The armchair exhibits exceptional form with a bowed top rail forming a hoop with flared spindles flanking shaped arms above a nicely proportioned saddle seat, supported by bulbous turned legs joined by stretchers.
