Description
An extraordinary Northern Italian Rococo period gilded wood and hand-carved console with shaped grey marble top. The curved shape of the body, on the front, on the sides and of the feet and the rich carving are the result of the high level of craftsmanship of the artisans of the Italian Rococo period. The original grey marble top is supported by an exuberantly carved apron of magnificent shell and acanthus leaf hand-carved gilded motifs; the whole rests on exuberant, yet elegant carved cabriole legs and scrolled feet, displaying the consoles airy and fine elegance. Its carefully considered proportions, refined carvings and magnificent color of the cream colored lacquer, combined with the gilt carvings and grey marble top combine to create an exceptional piece.
