Bronze Flower Vessel in the Form of a Hanging Bamboo Basket, ca 1900
Patinated bronze
Size 7¼ x 6½ x 5¾ in. (18.5 x 16.5 x 14.5 cm)
T-4721
A bronze vessel cast and patinated in imitation of a bamboo hanging flower basket, the base in ajiro-ami (twill plaiting), the sides in gozame-ami (mat plaiting), with a wrapped rim and a twisted hanging loop; signed underneath with a cast seal mark Hotoku (or Yasunori) followed by a kaō (artist’s monogram)
With a wood tomobako storage box, the exterior inscribed: Kaki (Flower Vessel); the interior with a long inscription by the famous bronze artist Hata Zōroku III (1885/6–1932) praising this piece and its maker, dated 1917 - More Information
