Robert Riggs
American, 1896 - 1970
Artist Bio: Robert Riggs
Born in Decatur, Illinois, Robert Riggs had an adventurous start to life, running away from home to join the circus as a young man. He later pursued formal education at James Milliken University in Illinois before training at the Art Students League in New York. However, his studies were interrupted by his service in World War I.
After the war, Riggs continued his artistic journey in Europe, attending the Académie Julian in Paris. Upon returning to the United States, he settled in Philadelphia, where he worked for N.W. Ayer & Sons, an advertising agency. Here, he created numerous illustrations that showcased his unique artistic vision.
Riggs's work includes a variety of art prints, lithographs, and paintings, reflecting his diverse experiences and influences.
