Fernand Léger “Composition à la statuette” Tapestry
This rare and exquisite tapestry “Composition à la statuette” (Composition with statuette), a rendition of Fernand Léger’s (1881-1955) masterpiece, was meticulously woven in Aubusson by Gisèle Brivet, one of the most celebrated weavers of the 20th century.
This exquisite tapestry is crafted from premium wool fibers, measuring an impressive 150 x 183.5 cm, or 5 x 6 feet. As an Artist’s Proof, this tapestry stands as a faithful representation of Fernand Léger’s original design, bearing his signature “F. LEGER” at the bottom right corner. The tapestry proudly displays Gisèle Brivet’s distinctive monogram in the lower left corner, a mark of her exceptional skill as a weaver. The tapestry’s exclusivity is further underscored by the inscription “EA” (Épreuve d’Artiste) on the reverse, signifying its unique status as an Artist’s Proof.
This tapestry is a testament to the enduring legacy of both Fernand Léger and Gisèle Brivet, two artistic luminaries who collaborated to create a masterpiece of woven art. -
