Stow & Davis Art Deco Executive Desk – Timeless Design, Executive Art Deco-era desk, masterfully crafted in Grand Rapids, Michigan, by Stow & Davis. This exceptional piece features twin pedestal bases supporting a complementary top, echoing the timeless symmetry of classic Art Deco design.
Constructed with premium mahogany veneers, the desk boasts a total of eight drawers, offering ample storage: one full-size file drawer, one shallow stationery drawer, two smaller drawers, and four standard-size drawers. Additionally, there is a center drawer with a small organizer. Custom cut glass top which fits perfectly.
The original, naturally polished brass hardware remains intact, providing full control over all compartments. A carefully applied wood stain enhances the contrast between the rich mahogany and the elegant brass handles, accentuating the desk’s striking appearance.
Having personally used a similar model for over a decade before selling it after relocating from San Francisco, I can attest to its quality and functionality. This particular desk has been restored and presents in excellent condition, with only minor imperfections.
Beyond its exquisite craftsmanship, this desk carries historical significance. It is the same model used by Dr. Thomas Francis during the development of the flu vaccine and by Dr. Jonas Salk during field trials for the polio vaccine at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor. A true collector’s piece, this desk is both a statement of refined taste and a testament to American innovation. That desk was refinished to be displayed at the University of Michigan Museum. - More Information
