Morris M. Shulman

American, 1912 - 1978
Born in Savannah, Georgia in 1912, abstract expressionist painter Morris Shulman studied at the National Academy of Design, Art Students League and Hans Hofmann School of Art in New York City. Shulman held teaching positions at the Brooklyn Museum School and School of Visual Art in New York City, Philadelphia College of Art and at the Skowhegan Art School in Maine. Shulman's work has been exhibited widely in museums and galleries, including in the Metropolitan Museum of Art, Carnegie Institute, Colby College, Parsons School of Design, Brooklyn Museum and Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts.

Shulman’s work is held in the permanent collections of the Metropolitan Museum of Art, Carnegie Institute, Smithsonian American Art Museum, Brooklyn Museum, Jewish Museum, Bates College, Vassar College, St. Mary’s College, Stamford Museum, Rose Art Museum and the Bezalel Museum in Tel Aviv.
