Description
Sculptor Salvator Riolo shows a nude male figure, resting on his right knee and with his left leg outstretched, pulling on an enormous bow as large as the archer himself. The sculptor's capture of the man's face, chiseled and focused, is excellent, and the strength and musculature of his body is beautifully demonstrated. Riolo may have sculpted some pieces under another name, which may explain the "T Riolo" signature, but the form and subject matter are very much characteristic of Riolo's work. The sculpture is mounted on a base that combines Belgian black marble with an unusual, rosy streaked marble.
