Nicknamed "gingerbread" because of the wavy rim on its brass shade, this stunning beauty was designed by Gunnel Nyman in the 1940s for Idman. The lamp is adjustable on three different axes, and has a telescopic arm and two wall supports, it can extend up to almost a meter in depth.
The lamp has been polished due to heavy patina and the silk diffuser has been reupholstered. The electric wiring have been changed. A stamped version.
Gunnel Nyman (1909 – 1948) was a Finnish glass, furniture and metal artist, and one of the founders of modern Finnish glass design. She was also one of the biggest names in the Finnish modern design movement of the early 20th century. Unfortunately, due to her premature death at 39, and even though she managed to design numerous beautiful objects, she also left us with a sense of owe and wonder to what she could've designed with a longer career.
