Description
CROWN (2024) by Lowell boyer is a vibrant celebraton of color, form and philosophical inquiry. A joyous riot of washes-golden tones, soft pinks, mauves, lavender, greens and blues, punctuated by bold strokes of black-evokes both the intricate patterns of molecular life and the infinite expanse of the cosmos. Each shape seems to pulse with motion alive with intention and energy through the artist's medium of acrylic, resin and ink. The painting is finished on the sides with the canvas neatly wrapped around the stretcher bars and painted in the same tone as the background color, creating a seamless edge.
Boyers, A new York-based artist with a B.A. from the Rhode Island School of Design and M.F.A. from Yale, brings a deeply conceptual layer to his work. He likens raw canvas to the unmaked template of the mind-blank, receptive, and infinite. "Before perception," he writes, " the mind is a futile but empty slate that we fill and dissipate all phnomena into and not." His process is immediate and gestural, echoing the spontaneous elegance of calligraphy.
In CROWN this urgency is palpable. Every mark feels like a moment capturerd in transit-here, and also just beyond. The painting becomes not only a visual feast but a philosophical proposition: that existence is a fleeting yet radiant accumulation of forms, gestures, and meanings, poured into the vessel of consciousness.
ng ground tones, resulting in a seamless, immersive experience.
CROWN is not merely a celebration of color and form—it is a meditation on fullness, emergence, and transformation. Its layered composition and vibrant palette transcend style and era, bringing emotional depth, visual power, and poetic atmosphere to any space it inhabits. -
