Description
This is a rare hand painted unique ceramic plate by the noted American painter, George Biddle. It is signed Biddle 1958 in the glaze. This plate is from the estate of the late Senator Benton of Illinois, a major collector of American art and ceramics. We have three different unique plates available. George Biddle was an American painter, muralist and lithographer, A childhood friend of President Franklin D. Roosevelt, he played a major role in establishing the Federal Art Project (1935–1943), which employed artists under the Works Progress Administration.
