Description
This rare pair of sculptural armchairs was designed and produced in Scandinavia in the 1950s.
The striking design features a sleek, sculptural teak wood frame with gently curved, round runners and armrests that mirror the same shape. Clean lines, open sides, and an airy silhouette are further emphasized by the curved side and front slats. Each chair includes a leather sling backrest supporting the cushion, while the seat cushion rests on an internal spring support system, providing a subtly responsive and comfortable seat.
The chairs are in overall good condition. The frames show minor wear consistent with age and use, with one chair having an older, unobtrusive restoration on the backside. The loose leather cushions have been reupholstered, while the leather backrest and spring system remain original.
Designers working in the same era/style include Ib Kofod-Larsen, Grete Jalk, Mogens Lassen, Arne Hovmand-Olsen, Finn Juhl and Jens Quistgaard. -
