Medieval Oak Chest
-
Description
A very early oak chest with lovely silvery patina of heavy plank construction raised off the floor with integral legs extending the depth of the edges, and a hinged ridged top with thick shaped gable boards with chevron carving to the top surfaces. Wonderful substantial pegged construction. Perhaps originally a grain chest, and now an attractive feature piece also useful for storage. Probably circa 1500.
