A Gustavian style chest of drawers in black with beautiful patina
-
Description
A beautifully crafted Gustavian style chest of drawers from Sweden, dating to circa 1900–1920. Finished in a deep black paint with a soft, timeworn patina, this chest balances neoclassical elegance with rustic charm. The three drawers are adorned with finely executed horizontal millings that add texture and rhythm, each fitted with original brass ring pulls and keyhole escutcheons.
A dentil-carved decorative strip runs just below the top edge, adding architectural refinement. The chamfered corners transition gracefully into tapered legs, which are embellished with delicate vertical fluting on both faces, a hallmark of Gustavian design. The locks appear to be original and intact. Constructed in solid pine, the piece offers both structural integrity and aesthetic appeal. With its compact proportions and sculptural details, this chest works beautifully in a bedroom, entryway, or living space, bringing a timeless Swedish sensibility to a variety of interiors.
This is an antique and having been around for a long time, it will show signs of wear. Antique pieces have very much sought-after character and associated flaws. Please review photos for condition & contact us with questions! -
