Early 19th Century Gustavian Chest of Drawers with Carved Dentil Trim
-
Description
A stately Swedish Gustavian chest of drawers dating to the early 19th century, featuring classic neoclassical restraint paired with subtle decorative flourishes. Crafted in solid pine and painted in a deep, dry black, the piece showcases a gracefully aged surface with natural wear that enhances its historical character.
The three wide drawers offer ample storage and are fitted with original circular brass pulls and escutcheons, all centered for a symmetrical, balanced look. A standout detail is the carved dentil trim running beneath the top edge, elegantly sculpted and crisply defined, adding architectural depth without overpowering the design.
The corners are softly canted, flowing into short tapered legs with a squared foot. This piece embodies the Gustavian ideal: refined, practical, and quietly elegant. Ideal for bedrooms, entryways, or living spaces, it blends seamlessly into both classical and contemporary interiors.
This is an antique and having been around for a long time, it will show signs of wear. Antique pieces have very much sought-after character and associated flaws. Please review photos for condition & contact us with questions! -
