Description
This sculptural bench is a one-of-a-kind work of functional art, chainsaw-carved from a solid hardwood log and charred using the ancient Japanese shou sugi ban technique. Its raw, arched silhouette blends structure with spontaneity—bridging brutalism and natural form. Rugged yet graceful, it seems more discovered than crafted.
Its surface is deeply blackened, revealing cracks, textures, and tool marks that honor the wood’s original spirit. The curved underside lifts the form from the floor, adding visual lightness to its otherwise grounded presence.
No templates or machines were used—just hand tools, fire, and intuition. The carbonized finish not only creates a striking visual but also strengthens and protects the wood, making it durable and weather-resistant.
This piece sits comfortably in modern organic, wabi-sabi, rustic, and sculptural interiors—and is equally at home in galleries, architectural spaces, or serene covered outdoor settings.
Sealed with natural oils and waxes to preserve the richness of its charred finish. Designed and made in Europe by Logniture, a studio renowned for turning raw timber into expressive, heirloom-grade pieces.

Message from Seller:
We do not cut down, we do not destroy, but seek out downed tree limbs toppled by fierce wind storms or driftwood from the local creek. But, in that moment of discovery all it takes is a tiny spark in the artist's eye and in his vision the piece becomes what it was always meant to be. P: +38.595.396.1045 E: logniture@gmail.com
