Description
Bamileke Old Anthropomorphic Trophy Head embroidered with European Glass Beads, Grasslands People, Cameroon.
glassbeads
14 x 9,5 diameter

€ 950.00
Worn by chiefs and other notables on ceremonial occasions, these beaded heads were highly symbolic power accoutrements and probably represent the heads of enemies taken in battle. Old and authentic examples are rare and this fine and expressive specimen with early trade beads shows evident age and patina overall. -
