Description
The Sterling silver stamp box has three engraved and enamel stamps on the lid, depicting 1 , 2, and 3 cents stamps. Most likely made in the 1930s , the stamp box can dispense three rolls of postage stamps. Currently it is filled with sizable vintage rolls of one and two cents stamps. Marked on interior rim is Sterling, a hand engraved serial number and the makers mark for Thomae & Co. of Massachusetts. Measures 5 3/4" wide x 2 1/8" deep x 1 1/8" tall. Very fine condition , the box has a heavy density exuding quality. We have had similar stamp boxes in the past , but marked Cartier. A quick search on the internet states that Thomas & Col also made items for Tiffany & Co.
