Beginning September 4th, Pennoyer Newman at 200LEX will feature the beautiful art of Kate Griswold. Kate's focus is photographing birds, particularly birds of prey and other large birds in the wild, for which the artist spends many hours outside waiting and watching for the perfect image. In her studio, Kate adds painterly backgrounds to her photographs, forcing the viewer to see the birds differently, out of context. The artist is interested in the historical spiritual symbolism of birds and finds photographing them a spiritual act, ultimately honoring the noble creatures and the spirit they evoke.
